About this role

About Turing: Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L. Role Overview: We are seeking experienced Electrical Engineers to design, solve, and review simulation-led engineering tasks used to train and evaluate advanced AI models. The role requires strong technical fundamentals, practical simulation expertise, and the ability to produce clear, reproducible engineering solutions. We are hiring for a PAA-based project, seeking candidates with strong hands-on experience in CAD modeling and simulation tools. This role is ideal for experienced aerospace, mechanical and electrical engineering professionals with deep expertise in design, CAD engineering, and simulation workflows. Key Responsibilities: Develop CAD models and perform simulation/analysis for aero, mech and elec components Validate designs using industry-standard tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB) Develop realistic electrical engineering problem statements, simulation models, calculations, schematics, and supporting technical assets. Define inputs, assumptions, constraints, operating conditions, output metrics, and objective acceptance criteria. Validate results through analytical checks and review other engineers’ submissions for technical correctness and completeness. Translate technical requirements into simulation models and workflows Optimize designs based on simulation results Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams Document methodologies, processes, and outcomes Key Requirements: Strong proficiency in CAD engineering and simulation tools Candidates must have a minimum of 10+ years of experience working in CAD engineering and simulation-focused organizations Strong aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering fundamentals Hands-on experience with modeling, simulation, or design projects Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Robust engineering problem definition Modelling and simulation Analytical validation and sanity checking Design trade-off analysis Technical documentation Peer review and quality assessment Clear communication of assumptions and engineering decisions Proficiency in the following tools as per their domain: - Mechanical: FreeCAD, CalculiX, Gmsh, ParaView, Python, Cura/PrusaSlicer - Aerospace: OpenRocket, OpenVSP, XFoil, AVL, OpenFOAM/SU2, FreeCAD, Python - Electrical: KiCad, ngspice, Qucs-S, Python, Octave, FEMM, openEMS Professional proficiency in one or more relevant tools is required, including: MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape Electrical, LTspice, PSpice, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, OpenDSS, Ansys Maxwell, COMSOL, Altium Designer, KiCad, AutoCAD Electrical, or EPLAN. Python or MATLAB scripting experience for automation, analysis, and result processing is preferred. For Electrical Engineering talents: Strong fundamentals in circuit analysis, power systems, electrical machines, power electronics, control systems, protection, grounding, instrumentation, or electronics design. Deep practical expertise in at least one electrical engineering specialisation is required. Preferred Qualifications: PHD in Mech, Elec, Aero domains Prior experience working with leading aerospace or engineering companies is highly preferred Offer Details: Commitments Required : Minimum 20hrs/week (Upto 40 hours per week) with at least 4 hours PST overlap Employment type : Contractor assignment (no medical/paid leave) Duration of contract : 8 weeks; [expected start date is next week]
