About this role

About Turing: Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world's leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L. Role Overview: We build environments used to benchmark AI models on real desktop engineering, scientific, and professional software. We need a Computational Physicist and Physical Simulation Specialist to build the templates for this domain. A template is the reusable foundation for one application: what the application can do, and the realistic material a task is built from. Once a template exists, many tasks are generated from it. Applications Gaussian · OpenFOAM · SU2 · Elmer FEM · WRF (primary simulation tools). Mapped workflow coverage: ADMS 6, SeisComP, ObsPy, SAC, Pyrocko, NCL, GrADS, CDO, NCO, Panoply, Stellarium, SAOImage DS9, TOPCAT. Key Responsibilities: Application capability mapping. Work through an application's real capabilities (supported input types, the operations that matter, what it exports) and record them in a structured form the rest of the team builds on. Environment base assets. Produce the material a task runs on: Gaussian input/log files, OpenFOAM case dictionaries (controlDict, fvSchemes), WRF namelist.input decks, FITS astronomical image files, SAC seismic trace files, and NetCDF climate datasets. Realistic enough that a working practitioner would recognise it, and internally consistent, since the details have to agree with each other. Reference solutions. Complete tasks in your domain on record, so there is proof the work is humanly achievable and a reference for what correct looks like. You are not writing scoring code. You define what correct means; engineers implement the checks. Key Requirements: Candidates must have a minimum of 5+ years of experience working as Physicist (Modelling & Simulation) Professional domain expertise in computational physics, thermofluids, seismology, or atmospheric modeling: you have run real physics simulations, not only operated software Hands-on experience with at least one: Gaussian, OpenFOAM, SU2, Elmer FEM, or WRF (mandatory) Strong understanding of differential equations, boundary conditions, wave propagation, and solver convergence tolerances Ability to explain why a physical boundary condition or simulation field result is correct, not only that it is Clear written English Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ObsPy, SeisComP, SAOImage DS9, or NetCDF data tools (CDO/NCO) Python automation for simulation input-deck generation and post-processing Benefits Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects. Competitive compensation. Flexible working hours and remote work environment. Offer Details: Commitments Required : 40 hours per week with at least 4 hours PST overlap Employment type: Contractor assignment (no medical/paid leave) Duration of contract: 5 weeks; imediate onboarding

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for the Domain Experts - Physicist (Modelling & Simulation) Specialist role at Turing AI Advancement Work?

Applications go through Turing AI Advancement Work's own portal - HumanSourcer links to the listing and never collects applications or handles hiring. Turing AI Advancement Work's access model is "Apply" (Apply to listed projects). This listing was first seen here on September 3, 2026 and was still live at the last check.

Is the Domain Experts - Physicist (Modelling & Simulation) Specialist role at Turing AI Advancement Work remote?

Yes - Turing AI Advancement Work lists this role as remote.

What does the Domain Experts - Physicist (Modelling & Simulation) Specialist role at Turing AI Advancement Work pay?

Turing AI Advancement Work doesn't state a rate on this listing. HumanSourcer never fills that gap with an estimate, so the absence is the source's, not a hole in this page. Turing AI Advancement Work's profile shows what its rate-carrying listings do advertise.

What kind of work is Domain Experts - Physicist (Modelling & Simulation) Specialist?

Coding / software engineering. Coding, data science, model evaluation, voice and domain review

Is Turing AI Advancement Work a legitimate AI-training platform?

Direct project marketplace - and that relationship is rated "Confirmed" here because it can be checked against work.turing.com rather than taken on Turing AI Advancement Work's word. Confidence describes how well the ownership is evidenced. It is not a rating of how the platform treats the people who work for it, which no public source covers reliably.
